I’m putting on a party in a pub function room a wee bit out the way. There’s no PA. Who Knows if anyone will come. I’m contemplating hiring but maybe buying a wee PA. Any suggestions of affordable PA kit to lug around? What is best avoided?

Depends on your budget, I was in a similar boat a few years back and found for the money that Behringer
Eurolive was a good entry level PA, which was a pair of speakers with an inbuilt amp/mixer that was removable. There’s chip as chips bass bins on ebay too, which I purchased a pair of and have since coupled them with some RCF powered speakers, and the system sounds great at small venues and also on my local beach!
