Remains magic.
A few obvious ones… but both now being the versions that I prefer over the studio/radioplay recordings
This is great partly just for Holgar Czukay’s desk of radios, tape players and telephone. The audience who barely manage a head nod or finger tap are an added bonus.
Mine might not actually be a best live version. Just a live version, of song I love, that I have been listening to a lot recently.
I only came across this (well the album version) yesterday listening to the Mark 7 Reedit in a DR Rob mix!
Ace
Nicholas’s dancing + clothes
And I only came across it fairly recently too, but I think this is the best version of the many out there. Although, I do like what Mark7 does with Valerie’s “ I could be more satisfied”!
I’m surprised you’d not seen it before. I used to hammer a VHS of that as a teenager. The other songs played were E=MC, BAD, and Stone Thames. I think I had to stay up late a few times to get them all. They’re all on You Tube now.
I remember, on my taping, the first song cut in in the middle of a Jimmy White interview. It seemed like I had (in true BAD style) edited it like that deliberately. But I hadn’t!
It surprised me at the time that they only played one song off the second album - which would have been the latest one.
Basically anything from David Sanborn’s “Night Music” live music show from late night US TV from the late 80s/early 90s is fire.
The house band were amazing (Omar Hakim, Hiram Bullock etc) and there were many good collabs between great artists across different genres. Here’s Bootsy with Sanborn on a smoking version of Stretchin’ Out.
the whole album to be honest
the whole album is great. the singing on you’ve got a friend is giving me goosebumps
